Bank reconciliation on your Tally data · Riko
Bank reconciliation

Your bank and your books, matched before month-end.

Bank reconciliation is the job everyone puts off until the auditor asks for it: the statement on one screen, the bank ledger on the other, ticking entries one by one. Riko matches your bank statement against the bank ledger in Tally, account by account, and shows you only what doesn't match: receipts nobody has booked, cheques that haven't cleared, entries that sit in Tally but never reached the bank.

01

Statement against ledger, line by line.

Riko pairs each bank entry with its Tally voucher and leaves only the exceptions for you to look at.

Auto-matching
02

Every account, not just the main one.

Every bank ledger in your Tally appears as its own account, so each is reconciled on its own and nothing hides inside a total.

Password-locked statements, read on your device.

Upload the statement as a PDF, CSV or Excel file. PDFs are read on your own device, password-locked ones included, and the password never leaves it.

How it works

What used to take an afternoon

  1. 01

Pick the account and upload the statement

Each bank ledger in your Tally shows up as its own account. Choose one, and drop in its statement as a PDF, CSV or Excel file.

  2. 02

    Riko matches it to Tally

Each statement line is paired with its voucher in your Tally bank ledger. Matched pairs are set aside, so you never tick them by hand.

  3. 03

    Look at the exceptions only

Unbooked receipts, uncleared cheques, bank charges and Tally-only entries are listed, each with its date and amount.

  4. 04

    Fix what needs fixing

Riko can draft the missing entries. Each one waits for approval before it reaches Tally.

  5. 05

    See where every account stands

Each uploaded statement is listed with how many lines are matched, so you can see which accounts are reconciled and which still have lines to review.

In practice

Where it earns its keep

Accountant

Three bank accounts, a CC limit, and the month closes on Friday.

Each account matched by Riko, with exceptions only. The afternoon of ticking becomes a short list to sort out.

Owner

The bank balance and the Tally balance don't agree, and nobody knows why.

The exceptions list shows exactly which entries make up the difference: the receipt nobody booked, the cheque that hasn't cleared.

CA

Audit fieldwork starts and the BRS is three months behind.

Upload each month's statement against the client's live Tally, and see from the statements list which months are done.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How does Riko match entries?

It pairs each line on the bank statement with the matching voucher in your Tally bank ledger. The matched pairs step out of the way, so you only look at what's left.

What counts as an exception?

Anything on one side without a match on the other: a receipt in the bank that nobody has booked in Tally, a cheque entered in Tally that hasn't cleared, or a charge the bank took that isn't in your books.

Can I reconcile more than one bank account?

Yes. Each account is reconciled separately, so a mismatch in one account can't hide inside a combined total.

Does Riko book the missing entries?

It can draft them, but they reach Tally only after someone approves, the same as every other posting in Riko.

Which statement formats work?

PDF, CSV or Excel (.xlsx), up to 10MB. PDFs are read on your own device, including password-locked ones, and the password never leaves it. CSV and Excel files are read exactly as your bank exports them.

Which plan includes it?

Business and above. Business also includes 3 users and propose → approve.

Bank reconciliation starts on Business, with 3 users and propose → approve.
